I'm the independent tech behind SidTheTech. When you call, you get me — not a call center, not a rotating queue, and not somebody working off a sales target.
I work on Windows, macOS and Linux, build custom PCs, and write software too — so a diagnosis here is not limited to one layer of the problem. No single ecosystem to sell you, no commission, and nobody handing me a quota.
If your machine is not worth repairing, I will tell you that and lose the job. That is the whole reason to hire an independent instead of a store.
I play piano, ukulele and guitar, write songs, and produce original instrumentals. I read physics and cosmology for fun, and I am usually part-way through some microcontroller project that started as a five-minute idea.
None of that fixes your printer. It does explain why I enjoy the problems other people find tedious — and why I would rather build the odd solution than tell you it cannot be done.
